So, those that I've run into at recent events have heard me mention that Alyssa and I are looking to host more events at our place. We had an idea for a Before Sunrise/Before Sunset double feature, however, at this point, we have no idea when Before Midnight (which rounds out the trilogy) is going to hit near here (starts in NY/LA on May 24th).
That said, I'm curious what sort of movies folks would be interested in seeing more of. Dan seems to have new US releases fairly well covered, so we probably wouldn't overlap. Folks that have chatted with me for any length of time I'm sure are aware that my wife and I have fairly wide ranging tastes in film.
Would more Hollywood classics be appreciated? Cult classics? More foreign and independent? Documentary features (film related or otherwise)?
The fallback of course, is simply the "films Chris and Alyssa want more people to see" category (ie., great movies that we think are underseen). To give you an idea of what that might look like, these are some films we've done for previous movie nights in the last 6 months or so (for Meetup or otherwise), Take Shelter
(2011), Beasts of the Southern Wild
(2012), Jiro Dreams of Sushi
What do you all think?
PS. Chungking Express in particular, I was thinking might be good for May 31st (if you've seen the film, you should get it, if not, then you'll need to see it) ;)
