Have Dinner at Park West Diner, Then Discuss Stuff at The Fine Grind Coffee Bar

Stuff in this case is Clowns, Dolls, Dummies, Puppets & Manikins. Think of old episodes of THE TWILIGHT ZONE for starters.

Part 1: Dinner

The April Dinner & Discussion will start with Dinner at the Park West Diner in Little Falls at 6:30 PM. This diner is on Route 46 West. Anyone there by 6:30 will be at our table. Anyone arriving late is on their own. At dinner we talk about everything in the world except the evening's topic.

Part 2: Discussion

The Discussion will be held at 8:00 PM at The Fine Grind Coffee Bar in Little Falls. It's on Route 23 South (aka Newark Pompton Turnpike), in a strip mall a half mile or so to the south of the Willowbrook Mall.

You don't have to make the dinner to attend the discussion.

As mentioned above, the evening's topic will be Clowns, Dolls, Dummies, Manikins and Puppets in fantasy, science fiction & horror cinema, literature and more. Cinematic depictions of the topic include KILLER CLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE, the CHUCKIE series of horror films and lots of creepy old TWILIGHT ZONE episodes.

The discussion is not limited to films. Television series, books, comic books and other genres are all grist for the mill.

Here's a list of topics we've discussed in the past:

Six of us enjoyed a pleasant dinner with sparkling conversation at the Park West. It was fun meeting Matt and Jay (though Jay did not join us at The Fine Grind). The group consisted of Ingrid, myself and three non-Meetup friends. The other eight people from Meetup did not attend, though one said he tried unsuccessfully to find us.

Andy and three of our non-Meetup friends joined us at The Fine Grind. We had to change the seating as they had set up for 8 additional people. Fortunately, they were pleasant about doing so. As far as the actual discussion, we talked movies from BEING JOHN MALKOVICH to KILLER CLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE and TEAM AMERICA, plus old episodes of THE TWILIGHT ZONE, VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA, STING RAY, plus cartoons, comic books books, fairy tales and stories featuring clowns, dolls, dummies, etc.

Hi, Elizabeth Conrad Dispenza. Assuming you intend to join us for dinner (some people skip dinner and just make the discussion at the Fine Grind), be at the Park West Diner before 6:30 PM. I'll inform the staff when I arrive and will also have a sign. You can also look for faces of people who say they will be there. As I told Matt, it's not unusual for 75% of people who say they will be there to not bother showing (where did those people learn their manners), but I've known Ingrid for years and she's real good about making it and she has a photo posted. If you miss us for some reason, you can join us at the Grind. It's a small place. You can't miss us. Hope that helps. Phil.

Hi, Matt. Of the 12 people who say they will be there, including yourself, 8 will be new. My experience has been that most new people who say they will attend do not actually do so. I would be happy to be proven wrong. This gathering was originally a non-Meetup event, so a number of people who attend do not RSVP, but are folks I've gotten to know over the years. Some show up for dinner, others at the discussion. Among the people I know and expect to be there, some are really into movies, some moderately so, and some are fringe movie goers. The group is structured to accomodate a variety of backgrounds. Hope to see you there. I also have a monthly video night at my place in Waldwick. Write me at SFABCPhilmu (at) gmail.com

Thanks Phil for the reply. I will definitely be there. I usually watch a movie per night, just about any kind of movie as long as it's a good movie. My friends think I'm crazy with this stuff, so it will be cool to meet others who share my interest. Looking forward to tomorrow.

My first time doing one of these. Are most of the folks here regulars? I'm a movie fanatic and would love to be able to discuss with others. Thanks!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
