Celebrate Halloween: Watch Frankenstein 1 PM / Eat / MonsterMiniGolf 6:30 PM

Hi, Everyone.

You are welcome to join the members of the Science Fiction Association of Bergen County for a Halloween Celebration on Saturday. We will show FRANKENSTEIN followed by THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN in one room, but most events will happen in other rooms.

Here are the details:

The October 2012 Special Activity will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012. The Celebration is a series of seperate events held in different locations. People can attend some of these events or all of these events.

1:00 - 4:00 PM..........Maywood Public Library, 459 Maywood Avenue, Maywood, New Jersey 07607 (201) 845 - 2915.
We will have use of three rooms in the basement of the library for these purposes. This is not a Private Function. Library patrons shall have access to all rooms.
..........Trinka Meeting Room
This will be the general conversation area. We can have light refreshments (soda, pretzels, etc.) in this room only. No popcorn, it's too messy. No real food, that would be a violation of our agreement with the library. There are computer terminals in this room. We will try to have one set up for the S F A B C Website and another for the Writers of the Weird Website. (Note: the library has a second, quiet internet room for people who need to concentrate.)
..........Hackbarth Auditorium
This is where we will do our Halloween Caroling. I intend to download some new Carols this year. This room will also host readings by members of our Writers of the Weird group. We may also have non-writers reading selections.
..........Board Conference Room
We will set up the club TV and DVD/VCR combo in this room. We should be able run two short films if we are efficient. I am leaning to old Universal monster movies as many of these are quite short, not too much more than an hour. Anyone who has suggestions for specific titles can contact Phil. We definitely do not want to present any film which could embarrass the library. Maximum occupancy of this room is twelve.
4:30 - 6:15 PM (Approximately)..........Paramus Park Mall Food Court
Dinner will be held at the food court of the Paramus Park Mall on Route 17 North in Paramus, New Jersey. We are unlikely to get everyone seating together, but try to stick close to the elevator area. We are choosing this venue because of its location, parking and flexibility of selections and seating.
6:30 - 8:15 PM (Approximately)..........MonsterMiniGolf, 49 East Midland Avenue, Paramus, New Jersey 07652 (201) 261 - 0032
MonsterMiniGolf is on Midland Avenue in Paramus. It is south of Paramus Park, so you need to cross over the Route 17 overpass onto Route 17 South when you leave Paramus Park. Take the Midland Avenue exit and cross over the highway. Stay in the left hand lane but do not turn off the main road. There is a traffic light on the other side of the highway. The post office is at this corner on your left. The next building houses Gold's Gym and MonsterMiniGolf. The sign reads Gold's Gym. Turn into this driveway.
MonsterMiniGolf is loud, with UV strobbing lighting. This is definitely not the sort of place for people with certain medical conditions. There will typically be a 15 - 20 minute wait at this time of day. It can be longer if weather is bad and the whole world comes out to play because it's indoors. We will break down into groups of 3 or 4. This is how MonsterMiniGolf operates and is not negotiable. Three to four people can play through in about an hour's time. Admission is $ 8.00. If you are bringing children, it may be $ 1.00 cheaper. Price is determined by height.
8:30 - ??? (Approximately)..........Matthews Colonial Diner, 4 Franklin Turnpike, Waldwick, New Jersey 07463 (201) 447 - 1411
If you're not burned out by the day's events, or if you were a late arrival who never had a chance to catch dinner, you can join the dihards at Matthews for coffee and dessert. Matthews is the same diner we go to after most General Meetings. It is on the Ho-Ho-Kus border, on the same side of the street and next to The Hermitage, a historic estate.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
