Black Harvest: "The Bicycle"

A charming inversion of the classic film "The Bicycle Thief", "The Bicycle" gets put into motion when a young girl gets her bike stolen from the neighborhood bully.  To help her get it back she's teamed up with her would-be stepfather, who she's not totally convinced should be part of the family.  As they go on their quest, the movie shows off their testy yet budding relationship, while sketching the neighborhood they live in (often literally through animated segments).

This movie is part of the 20th Annual Black Harvest Film Festival.  There will be a discussion by the creators after the screening, and advance tickets are HIGHLY recommended - you can pick them up at:

Fun time heading to see this combination of social overview and road trip film, with excellent child performances, non-cliched direction in the story, and nicely-timed comic details. And it's always nice to follow up with a conversation that can close out the Siskel! Thanks to Ken & Divanoir for putting this movie on our radar!

And speaking of movie recommendations, Nancy mentioned this fascinating documentary called "Alive Inside", about music's ability to revitalize and even heal people. You can see more information about it (including the trailer) at: http://www.aliveinside.us
