Chicago Film Festival: Like Someone in Love @ River East

IMPORTANT!   THIS SCREENING IS NOW SOLD OUT, SO IF YOU DON"T ALREADY HAVE TICKETS, YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NOT BE ABLE TO GET IN (some last minute tickets may be available due to cancellations.)

Tickets are $14.  Please arrive early and purchase in advance as some screenings sell out quickly.  If there is enough interest, we may meet for dinner ahead of time (check back here.)

Original Title: Like Someone in Love
Director: Abbas Kiarostami
France / Japan
Japanese with subtitles
109 min

Iran’s greatest living filmmaker travels to Tokyo for this understated, enigmatic romantic drama. Unbeknownst to her boyfriend, the enchanting university student Akiko secretly moonlights as an escort. An encounter with a client - a shy, elderly academic - leads to an unconventional, unexpectedly intimate relationship in which nothing is quite as it seems.

    Hi All,

As Brad mentioned, this screening has, unfortunately, sold out. For those of us lucky enough to have a ticket, I will be hosting a meet-up for the film. I will be standing near the elevator bank on the box office level of the theater until around 8:15 at which point we can make our way to the theater. I will try to have a meet-up sign, but if I can't pull one together, just look for a guy with a beard who is wearing a black jacket. If you need to call or text me at the theater, my # is[masked]-3472. If there is interest, we can all grab a drink after the movie and dig into what is sure to be a challenging film. Hope to see you all there. Cheers. Peter

I didn't get my tickets in time, so if you've got yours, look for Assistant Organizer Peter Richards at the screening.

Because meeting up at festival screenings can somethimes be a little tricky, I'd recommend arriving at least a half hour before the posted start time. As we may need to take our seats 5-10 minutes before the film starts, we'll also look to connect after the screening, near the concessions.
