Chicago Film Festival: The World is Funny @ River East

IMPORTANT!   THIS SCREENING IS NOW SOLD OUT, SO IF YOU DON"T ALREADY HAVE TICKETS, YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NOT BE ABLE TO GET IN (some last minute tickets may be available due to cancellations.)

Tickets are $14.  Please arrive early and purchase in advance as some screenings will sell out quickly.

Original Title: Haolam Matshik
Director: Shemi Zarhin
Hebrew with subtitles
122 min

The World Is Funny follows the wanderings of a loose network of characters. Told with meticulous precision, the connections between the characters and the profound implications of their stories grow in richness and complexity as the film progresses. A sharp, ironic sense of humor enriches a melancholy yet inspiring film that has been a gigantic hit in Israel, earning a record-setting 15 Ophir nominations (the Israeli Academy Awards®).

Because meeting up at festival screenings can somethimes be a little tricky, I'd recommend arriving at least a half hour before the posted start time. As we may need to take our seats 5-10 minutes before the film starts, we'll also look to connect after the screening, near the concessions.
