Hey, Movie Lovers!
The Crest Theatre is hosting the Sacramento Film & Music Festival this week, Wednesday through Sunday. The full schedule is here
on the Crest's website, with more information here
on the Festival's SacFilm.com
website. There are all sorts of interesting things going on: fictional and documentary features; student, international and Sacramento shorts (in three separate showings on Saturday); a "10x10 Challenge" (filmmakers are given 10 days to make a 10 minute film on a surprise theme); a Fashion Challenge; an "Edgar Allan Poe Project"; and music videos with local bands and filmmakers. There will be discussions with the filmmakers after some of the films. There is also a panel discussion on digital distribution for filmmakers and others who are interested in the subject. Check the links above for more information.
Rosemary has already posted a 7:30 meetup on Wednesday for the opening night film "Stolen Moments" here
. Tickets for the movie by itself are $10, but if you'd like to attend the full opening-night program starting at 6:30 (reception, awards, plus the movie) tickets are $15 for the full package. Tickets for most individual shows the rest of the week are $10, tickets for the student short films on Saturday morning are $5. There is a $60 All Festival Pass available only at the Crest box office. Other tickets are available online through the links above or at the box office.
I can't guarantee it, but the Crest usually gives out free parking validations for the public parking lot on 10th St. between L & K, so be sure to ask!
There's so much going on that I won't be posting meetups for these events, but if you attend any of them look for me - I'll probably be living at the Crest all week! (My photo is on the meetup website.)
