Has it really been 15 years since the first Men in Black? Yes, 1997 was when we first saw Will Smith make the uptight federal agent look "cool". The critics have said this take was not as good as the first, but better than the sequel. Also, top Rotten Tomatoes critic Roger Moore says that Josh Brolin impersonating the young Tommy Lee Jones is worth the price of admission. Mixed in with the comedy are some more serious themes of time travel and alternate futures, for thinking people.
Movie starts at 9:50; I'll be in line at 9:30. This is the first time this has played on Monday, when tickets are only a dollar, so there's a chance it might sell out. This theater does not show previews so you want to be on time regardless.
(PG-13) (106 min) In Men in Black 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back...in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K's life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him -- secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind. -- (C)
