The Iceman - Michael Shannon

First of all this is a definite time and venue.

Meet outside at 7pm, the film will start at 7:20 after ads and trailers. We will go for some beers afterwards, probably in The Brudenell Social Club

Starring: Michael Shannon, James Franco, Winona Ryder, Ray Liotta
Director: Dir. Ariel Vromen
Duration: 106mins
Country: US
Year: 2012

HPPH Synopsis:With complex thrillers like TAKE SHELTER and PREMIUM RUSH recently under his belt, Shannon is emerging as the go-to guy for damaged-goods anti-heroes. In his portrayal of real-life freelance killer Richard Kuklinski he emits a certain quiet, psychopathic menace that is truly chilling. Married to his unsuspecting teenage sweetheart, Kuklinski is hired to do the dirty work for the more overtly nasty New Jersey gangster Roy Demeo. It’s a simple tale of killer take all – or at any rate, most – but Shannon’s considerable presence, and the gritty ’70s look created by director Ariel Vromen, ensure that THE ICEMAN exerts an unyielding grip on its audience.

Ok I know we have some Michael Shannon fans in our group so I hope that those can make it. I like him too, ever since Take Shelter, which this group went to see. Does anyone else think his face is half Robert de Niro and half Steve Buscemi?

As you can see from the poster, the movie is getting some good reviews.

I liked the first hour a lot, but I got a bit fed up with it by the end. I'm gonna put a review on the message board in a bit.

Great acting and not so great film, but as usual the after made the ensemble an excellent mix.

I am glad I came along. Nice to meet everyone. The film was not brilliant but is good to see something I wouldnt usually go for.

Good acting by the main roles of what was a dreary, boring biography of a hit man. based on a true story. why it was thought worthy of a film I don't know. Hope the next offerings are more interesting.
