LIFF 27 Programme Launch at Light Nite

The 27th Leeds International Film Festival programme will launch on Friday 4 October, as part of Light Night in Leeds Town Hall’s magnificent Victoria Hall. The free event will start at 6.30pm and the festival’s free guide will be unveiled before a special preview of films featuring at this year’s festival. There will be trailers from across each of the festival’s strands, including the best new world cinema in Official Selection; documentaries and music film in Cinema Versa; cult cinema in Fanomenon; a celebration of the outstanding new film talent emerging around the world in Short Film City; and a Retrospective selection giving you a chance to experience some of the best and most rarely seen gems from cinema history on the big screen.

We’re also very pleased to announce that the festival is now two days nearer! LIFF27 has moved forward ever-so-slightly and will run from 6-21 November. That’s over two weeks of cinema during November at amazing venues including Everyman, Leeds Town Hall and the Hyde Park Picture House. We already have a selection of excellent confirmations, and the festival team are hard at work putting together the best possible programme of films from around the world to feature in what is the biggest film event in the North. LIFF27′s amazing value passes are on sale now – please click here for more details.

Entry will be free on the night and no tickets are required.

Sorry I arrived slightly late. I stayed for the old films that were quite interesting and went to see the amazing installation at Milllenium Square. It was the best of all screening in the evening! Making building come live. Not impressed about the presentation of the film festival, many trailers did not engage the audience, at least not me, but we got the program that has very interesting films. Can't wait.

I bought a festival pass last year and I must have seen about 24 films. I might just watch the occasional one this year.

Main Event starts at 6:30 inside Town Hall which is the Film Festival Preview and lasts for half an hour. I've got a full Light Night programme which I will bring to O'Neill's at 5:40. Normally after the Film Festival preview people split inot 2s & 3s and go see something they fancy, usually an artistic event. Loads going on tonight, but not enough to stop me going to see Filth at 8:30. See you later on folks, very exciting stuff!

Just so this is clear, we meet in O' Neills between 5:40 and 6pm then head to the Town Hall. Hopefully there will be something to watch, usually its trailers for the LIFF, but in any case the LIFF programme should be available. At 8:25 I am off to Vue Light to watch 'Filth' regardless, some othere will be staying on no doubt to see what Light Night has to offer.
