LIFF27 - Once Upon a Time In The West

Once Upon A Time In The West

NB NB NB My sources tell me that the movie starts at 8pm and will end at 11pm for anyone worried about getting home. The first hour is a talk about the film by Sir Christopher Frayling for 50 mins, followed by a 10 minute intermission.

I am going to be in Veritas at 6pm and then will go into the cinema at about 6:30. I want to get a good seat towards the front middle. I appreciate not everyone will be as keen to see this on the big screen as me!! Either meet me in Veritas, or at 6:30, or in the 'cinema' itself. I'll have my mobile on until the talk begins to help people meetup.

Currently my all time favourite movie, Sergio Leone's iconic western is introduced by Sir Christopher Frayling, so it will be interesting to see if he has a new take on this often discussed piece of movie heaven.

The opening credits are worth paying to see alone!!!. We then we have an amazing opening scene, as Charles Bronson faces off 3 strangers "And Frank?" The dialogue, perfect, plus Claudia Cardinale as widow in distress, Henry Fonda cast against type, Jason Robards. Its brilliant throughout. Absolute gold. If you haven't seen it in a while, or perhaps never, then lucky you. I shall massively look forward to seeing this on the big screen. It had a big effect on me when I first saw it as a kid, with my elder brother Joe.

That was stupendous. A very interesting talk by Sir Christopher Frayling, he was very personal, and inclusive in his delivery I thought, followed by my #1 movie, currently, in my all time list, which looked great on the big screen. Also very good company thanks to all who attended. I've liked movies before this one, and since it, but it is in the very highest echelon, no question. The other movies that are in this high bracket are Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, Out Of The Past, The Outlaw Josey Wales and Twelve Monkeys. Superb.

Are you planning on going for a drink after this one, Frankie? If so, let me know and I'll join you all. If not, no worries. I'll catch up with you sometime soon.

Matt The movie doesn't end until 11pm so although I might go for a beer afterwards, it would only be a mega quick one. Catch ya further on down the trail...

I'm gonna need to get quite close to the front downstairs for this one folks to avoid peripheral vision distractions AND I'm gonna get sat down early, so the meetup could be a problem in that respect, anyhow use my mobile 07985 780284. As soon as it opens I'm going in to get a good spot. I'm very excited about seeing this film again !!!

Look out for the line "Now That You've Called Me By Name..." from Henry Fonda
