Fathers Day Paddle on The Mad River

Lets take over the Mad on Fathers Day!

This is one of our favorite rivers as it is spring fed and so clear you can see the bottom.  The river moves well and is a fun/easy paddle.  There are obstacles to maneuver and moving water experience is recommended.

THE PADDLE
We will paddle 11 miles from Eagle City Road [MR 29.7] to the take out area located at Mad River Adventures [MR 19] on The Mad River. We will be using Mad River Adventures for shuttle services and/or boat rentals. If you do not have a boat, rental information is included below.

Shuttle service is $10.00 per boat

We will meet at the 9:30 AM at Mad River Adventures for shuttle leaving at 10 AM.  Please arrive early and have your boat ready to load onto the shuttle prior to 10 AM.

• Start
We will push of from the shoreline at 10:30 AM + or -

• Finish
We should be out of the water 2:30 PM + or -

• Duration
Expect to spend about 4 hours on the water

• Pace
We will take a leisurely paddle giving plenty of time for camera opportunities

• Distance
This paddle is 11 miles on moving water

• Difficulty
This paddle is suitable for paddlers with some moving water experience.  You must be 12 years of age or older and sign the liability waiver.  Its not a hard paddle, however there are obstacles to maneuver.

• What You See

• Food
Bring your lunch, water and snacks.  We will have lunch on the water. After the paddle we will visit The Dock for dinner/social gathering.

Evans a natural born kayaker. I was impressed at the way he handled his boat going through and coming out of the big rapid.

Please send Lisa my thanks for teaching me a paddling skill, and for cleaning up the trash. BTW, those were two separate events.

Good job shoving him into the tree Julie, your "soaking your husband" right off the bat was professionally executed. He still thinks it was an accident ;)

The correct address of Mad River Adventures is 5605 Lower Valley Pike, 45506. You may want to change it for those of us who plan to use a GPS to get there.

Looking forward to it---Mad is one of my favorite rivers to paddle! Have the kids for dinner later in the afternoon, so will have to bail on the grub afterwards.

    1 · June 2, 2014

    • Sandy

You're having the kids for dinner?? No wonder you have to bail afterwards; you have to destroy the evidence! Well at least you'll be kid-free and able to paddle more! However, might I recommend Red Lobster for dinner instead of kids, it probably tastes better and less complicated.

Kenny... can you please ask if they have cut out a section of the very large tree that is blocking the access to the river... We had to crawl under the bridge last week to enter the water ... Not Fun!

    1 · June 1, 2014

    • Kenny

Bob, I spoke with Darren this morning. The tree at the put in area is removed. Thanks for the heads up sir.
