Introduction to Kayaking – Level 1 Class with Great Miami Outfitters

Join Great Miami Outfitters for an on-water class taught by certified ACA instructors.

Introduction to Kayaking Level 1 Class is a 6-8 hour course taught on “flat water” (a local lake), designed to give you a full day’s understanding of kayaking. You’ll spend part of the class on land and part on the water. We’ll cover the basics of kayaks, how to load and unload, how to launch from land or docks, paddling etiquette, rescue techniques, proper safety equipment, principles of paddling and various strokes and maneuvers. You may take the Quick Start course first, but it is not required. Dress to get wet.

COST:
$100 per participant, includes instruction, kayak, paddle and PFD
($90 if you provide your own kayak and equipment)
Advance registration and payment required.
Class size is limited to four (4) participants per instructor.
Recommended age of 16 and older.

Essential Eligibility Criteria – In order to participate in this course, each participant must satisfy the following essential eligibility criteria:

Be able to independently participate in all individual skills and activities listed while maintaining an appropriate and safe body position.Be able to hold their breath while under water and, while in the water wearing a properly fitted PFD (Personal Floatation Device) be able to independently turn from a face down to a face up position keeping their head above water.Be able to effectively communicate with the instructor and other course participants.Be able to manage all personal care independently, or with the assistance of a companion.Be able to manage all personal mobility independently, or with the assistance of a companion.

      This one filled up 3 weeks in advance, and he added an instructor after it filled up. Then that instructor's lots promptly filled. Their refund policy is severe in my opinion and not without penalty. When you sign up, do not plan to cancel. It is appropriately costly to to cancel.
