This evening we're excited to have a visiting teacher give us a dharma talk. Thay Dieu-Thien's teachings have brought freshness to my practice and she's helped me really apply my practice in a way that's helped me resolve persistent issues that I've struggle with. I hope you'll be able to join us for her talk!
An Evening with Zen Master Thich Dieu-Thien
How are you, really? Are there areas in life where you know that you have stress or in which you struggle? Why do we meditate? Do we meditate to manage life and endure our suffering? Or, do we meditate to transform it and live with true happiness in any situation?
Join us for an evening with Zen Master Thich Dieu-Thien, visiting from the Universal Door Meditation Center in Sugar Land. She brings her unique, light-hearted and effective approach to looking into our own nature and the source of our suffering.
About the Teacher:
Zen Master Thich Dieu-Thien struggled deeply within herself for more than twenty years in search of unconditional freedom. When she realized the cause and the source of suffering, the suffering ended completely, and she began to live fully with true happiness and freedom.
Thich Dieu-Thien is a Buddhist nun devoted to guiding people on the direct path to true happiness and true freedom, and is the primary teacher at Universal Door Meditation Center in Sugar Land, Texas.
Through her own direct experience, she teaches students to realize what blocks their true happiness and true freedom, and how that causes them to suffer, without relying on intellect, concepts, books, sutras, or other people's experience. This exploration is applied constantly, in every moment. After you realize your true self, everything about your life will make sense...why your life had struggles, where the problems came from, who and what you really are, and the Truth of "all that is".
There is no charge for attending the talk, but in the spirit of mutual support we can offer a donation to Thich Diue-Thien. Please give as generously as you are able.
The meeting goes from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
We begin with an hour of sitting and walking meditation followed by incense offering and chanting.
On the first Sunday of each month we recite and discuss the Five or Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings. (The Mindfulness Trainings can be found under the "Files" section of this Meetup site.) The program varies on other Sundays.
Please dress comfortably and arrive 5-10 minutes early to maintain a serene environment for meditation. Cushions and chairs are provided.
Where to find us: 1712 Fairview, Houston (between Dunlavy and Commonwealth) in the rear building.
