Lucas Dohmen: Domain Driven Design and NoSQL

Mrgn is a general technology meetup for people that don't want to spend their evenings at meetups. Mrgn is a monthly morning event on the last Thursday of the month for tech startups and entrepreneurs, where we get together and talk about code, teamwork, and related topics. Each MRGN is free of charge and features a short talk - and coffee!

This month's speaker is Lucas Dohmen, a member of the core team of the NoSQL database project ArangoDB where he works on the graph functionality, tools for the Ruby community to use the database and Foxx. He is also a contributor to various open source projects like hacken.in (an event calender for nerds in Cologne, Berlin and Munich) and projects related to ArangoDB. In addition to this, you can find him listening or speaking at local usergroups for Ruby, JavaScript, NoSQL and coaching Rails Girls and Coder Dojo.

Domain Driven Design focuses on finding a common language to improve communication — a still important topic regarding lots of failing projects. In this talk Lucas will show us how NoSQL document stores and graph databases can help with DDD and compare that to modeling in relational databases.

Hi! We need to confirm the breakfast order today. If you haven't RSVP'd yet but would like to join us, the moment is now. If you RSVPed YES but you won't make it, it'd be nice of you to let us know. Thanks in advance and see you tomorrow!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
