SPEAKER: Kathryn Birstein, NYCSDUG FOUNDER!

SUBJECT: SharePoint Online: Ready for Enterprise Users?

DESCRIPTION:

If you aren't familiar with SharePoint Online (and Office 365 in general) yet you should get familiar soon. Not only has Microsoft announced that their last version of SharePoint on-premise will be 2015 but they are now premiering all new features in the cloud first.

So is how does SharePoint Online differ from SharePoint on-premises? We all know that you can't do farm-level programming but customization options is just a small part of what you should be thinking about. What about bandwidth? What features of on-premise don't exist in SharePoint Online? Is the ROI really as great as they say it is? What operational issues administrators will face?

On the other hand, what are the advantages? Free external users are a big plus. Also, not having to build and configure farms yourself is a huge cost savings. And tying in global users with different languages is a breeze in Office365.

So come to this meeting and find out what SharePoint Online is all about!
