NYC SharePoint Developers User Group is WEDNESDAY

From: Kathryn B.

WEDNESDAY is the NYC SharePoint Developers User Group meeting. Please sign up if you haven't done so already. The speaker will be our own NYCSDUG member, Lyudmila Zharova (that blond lady who is always asking tons of questions at our meetings!). Here's the details:

SPEAKER: Lyudmila Zharova, Senior SharePoint Developer, Stroz Friedberg

SUBJECT: Auto Navigation Between Site Collections in SharePoint 2010

WHERE: Microsoft, 1290 Avenue of the Americas (bet. 51-52), 6th Floor

WHEN: Wednesday, May 16th, 5:30 Meet and Greet, 6:00 Presentation

Lyudmila recently had to create a PowerShell script to split a huge Site Collection into multiple ones with separate content databases.

However, despite the advantage of having unique security for each Site Collection, SharePoint 2010 still doesn't have OOB option to configure consistent navigation between Site Collections.

In his session Lyudmila will demonstrate how to overcome this problem by creating a feature based on a search query that returns all the Site Collections that the current user has access to.

The feature, upon activation, will put the server control in in the "GlobalNavigation" delegate control on the master page, making it available throughout all the Site Collections.

AS USUAL, pizza and drinks will be provided by our ever faithful founding sponsor, GIG-WERKS, and SWAG will be provided by Telerick and Infragistics. In addition, we'll be raffling off two one-month licenses (worth $40 each) provided by our brand new sponsor, Pluralsight, which provides online IT training.

So be there or be square!
