Game Day at Your Mom's Basement (Sat., March 16th)

Hey gang! We're going to try something new this week. If some generous volunteer were to decide that he or she wanted to run Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment and the same or another volunteer were to offer to run The Goblinblood Dead on March 23rd, over this session and (if necessary) March 23rd I will run the first level of Thornkeep, The Accursed Halls. This module is very different from traditional scenario play; its also a great deal of fun. However, it requires some help from the group.

First, if you sign up for Thornkeep you're effectively signing up for two sessions, both this week and next week. While the Accursed Halls is short enough to finish in one night and it is very possible we will, I do not want to have to scramble at the end of the night to cover not finishing by store close. Be prepared to play on both days. If we do finish by the end of the night, we can discuss options for March 23rd at that time.

Second, we need a GM for those who cannot or are not interested in The Accursed Halls to volunteer to run Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment and/or Goblinblood Dead. I understand that not everyone wants to or is able to commit to two consecutive weeks of a module, so I am prioritizing the traditional scenario. If nobody volunteers, I will run a single table of the listed scenario over a single table of Thornkeep. So please, if you're curious about GMing, shoot me an email at [masked], send a message through Meetup, or post on the comments section of the game day.

Thanks,

Ryan B.

This Week:

#3-21 The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment:

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.

In order to learn about the esoteric faith of the Empyreal Lord Korada, the PCs are sent by the Pathfinder Society to explore an abandoned aasimar temple to the benevolent deity. But what they find there is anything but an opportunity for peaceful reflection and enlightenment.

Written by Ron Lundeen.

Thornkeep - The Accursed Halls:

Beneath Brokenhelm Hill and the weathered walls of Thornkeep lies an ancient maze of magic and madness. Once the workrooms and summoning chamber of a rebel Azlanti lord, these subterranean chambers were forgotten thousands of years ago after the eradication of the evil lord and his followers. Over the centuries, adventurers have found their way into these twisting passages and magnificent chambers, only to discover that the fading magic of the ancient Azlanti still lingers here. The people of Thornkeep call this dungeon the Halls Under the Hill, but those heroes who have dared its depths know this place by a different name: the Accursed Halls.

A sanctioned module for Pathfinder Society characters of 1st - 2nd level.

About this Game Day:

This is an announcement for a locally scheduled game day on Saturdays at the Your Mom's Basement in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Games last five hours (scheduled to end at 11:30), but the venue is open until 1 am for gaming, food, and congregation. GMs arrive an hour early for set-up and questions. While registration for events is not required, it is encouraged as registered attendees will be guaranteed a seat for play (information regarding registration can be found below).

We cater to new players and experienced Pathfinders alike, both young and old. All of our members are fantastic and display a true love for the game. We offer a friendly environment to meet new players and to experience the fun of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game with other fans. As a family friendly group we encourage families to join the fun as well. It should be noted that although Pathfinder Society adventures are written with a PG-13 rating in mind, we place no age restriction on play (children under the age of 15 are expected to have parent or guardian supervision during the games).

I look forward to seeing you there!

This Game Day at Your Mom's Basement is hosted by Ryan Blomquist (Venture-Captain).

Was a great adventure, Sven! Almost a TPK, which would have been averted by any of the no shows being there... Thank you, Robert, for coming at the last minute.

Frustrating that we couldn't quite kill the BBEG, and that two of us (me included) failed at our faction missions, bu we were fully and truly challenged.

Don't worry, I made sure to give my friend hell for not showing up. A rogue with a masterwork shortbow would have come in handy against the Boss.

This really should have taught us a lesson on properly equipping ourselves. Holy Water, Oil of Bless Weapon, more Cold Iron weapons, all of these would have been helpful. All of these are also relatively cheap, and could have been used on any number of encounters. Ok, well, lesson learned.
Not only am I going to carry a wider variety of bullets (no more "ordinary bullets"!!!), but several of the above.

Also a good idea to have a reach weapon, especially if you are a melee character, and have a poor DEX. Felt bad for the poor Inquisitor...

Thanks for GMing Sven, best module I've played so far.

Thorn Keep was brutal but rewarding. Close to a tpk at the end fight, and the shadows cost us a comrade, which I always hate

I agree. I raise a cup of ale in honor of Pyotr Petrovich. He was a courageous and honorable warrior. May he ride gallantly into the sunset eternal!

Sorry, I can't make this one. Big eating night, long.

So, after talking with She Who Rules the Known Universe, I might be available for this. I would prefer to run Temple, but could sit and play it.

    • Sven

Its fine by me if you run Temple.

      March 4, 2013

I'd be down to run Temple. One of my favorites to run. I've run it twice. Maybe someone who is playing at Tower and/or lives in MPLS could give me a ride out to YMB?

"You won't be sorry..." for long.

If you're interested, RSVP and I will open seats for a second table. I will also prep Temple as a backup in case The Accursed Halls falls through due to lack of players.

    AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

Curse you gods of men! I am busy this Saturday night (a rescheduled event from January) otherwise I would be all OVER running Temple. Walks off grumbling, kicks a rock, shakes fist at nonexistent group...
