Play hookie this Wednesday in Flagstaff

Day trip - I am planning to leave the valley at 7:00 a.m. and want to ride by 10:00 a.m. in Flagstaff. The plan is to ride the Arizona Trail for a one day adventure, then back to the valley that evening.

FIRST SEGMENT
From FR 418 off of 180, we’ll ride up some out-of-this-world skinny singletrack, beginning with a couple miles of switchbacks before leveling out and climbing steadily across the west flank of Mount Humphreys. Six miles and 800' of elevation gain on a mostly easy tread, weaving through aspens, ferns, ponderosas and open meadows with magnificent views of the San Francisco volcanic field. (7 miles)

SECOND SEGMENT
Aspen Corner to Snow Bowl Road - This segment of the AZ Trail tops out in an aspen glade out at the intersection with the short connector trail to the parking at Aspen Corner. (4.8 miles)

THIRD SEGMENT
Snowbowl Road to Schultz Pass - This segment is smooth and easy riding - great XC riding with moderate climbing. (6.8 miles)

FOURTH SEGMENT
Schultz Creek Trail - This is the final descent! Don’t even add these miles in because it is all downhill that is a blast! Very few technical sections and a great end to a great ride! (4.2 miles)

This ride will take up to 4 hours and is not for beginners given the altitude and the duration of the ride.  Please make sure you have rain gear even though the forecast does not call for rain, it is monsoon season.  Pack enough snacks or food as you need to be fueled throughout the ride.  Looking forward to an awesome ride!

Carpooling will work best because we will have to shuttle. More details will follow.

Hello Joanne!! You can do this - no problem and you will love it!! There is virtually no technical just climbing at altitude. We will adjust our riding pace for the whole group.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
