Awesome weather forecast for the weekend on the Rim!
BRING YOUR LUNCH FOR AN AFTER RIDE PICNIC.
We will spend the day riding and enjoying the beautiful weather and getting some great riding in. The Mogollon Rim offers trees, clear skies, fresh, cool air, and views that are beautiful. This location is 1/2 hour east of Payson off 260. Total drive time from Shea Boulevard and Highway 87 = 1.5 hours.
Ride time: 9:30 A.M.
Length: Multiple loops - Plan on about 15-18miles
Ride Time: 2+ hours
Difficulty: Aerobically moderate, due to altitude and length of ride. We will be at 7,800 ft.
Trail Surface: Single and doubletrack - some rocky sections (no steep drops or exposure), packed dirt, leaves, pine needles, some sand.
Weather: It is monsoon season so there is the likelihood for an afternoon thunderstorm - cooler temps (80-85 degrees)
Facilities: There is a pit toilet at the trailhead only
DIRECTIONS: Highway 87 north to Payson - Turn right on 260-go east about 20 miles to mile marker 281 (Woods Canyon Lake) FR 300, turn left. FR300 is paved then turns to a dirt road (driveable for any vehicle). Go a few miles to FS9350/Carr Lake Trailhead, turn left.
