Nordic Centre Ride + Picnic (Intermediate group)

Please RSVP for the appropriate group according to your ability. We'll all try to meet up in the biathlon area for lunch afterward. I think there are a few picnic tables, or we can sit in the bleachers overlooking the biathlon range. You can pack a lunch or buy food in the day lodge.

Note different start times for each group reflect longer ride duration for more advanced groups. Hopefully we can all finish riding at approximately the same time. Lunch is at ~1:00.

Please be ready to ride at 11:00 at the Olympic torch:

As I will not be riding with this group, it will be up to you to explore. Or perhaps someone familiar with the area can show everyone around. I would suggest checking out Orange and/or Yellow loops, and a lap on Soft Yogurt is highly recommended. Approx riding time 2 hours.

    Hey gang,
I just wanted you to all know that I am ok and doing great on morphine!
Yeah, unfortunately it ended up being a nasty spill for me.
I was clipped by a fairly big rock going down that steep decline and it won.
I have major dental work tomorrow.
But I'm out of the hospital and all that's broken are my front teeth!
    7 of them!
Fack me!!!!! But it could have been way worse and so I'm grateful!!!!!!
Anyway, what a way to end the season hey!
But it's not gonna stop me.
You'll see me back out once my teeth are fixed.
Hopefully we get a bit more warmer weather.
Be safe and happy trails everyone.
To the two guys that helped me to my car - Thank you again so much :)

Martin, I didn't realize that was you in the lodge. I was somewhat more focused on dealing with Clara's situation so I probably came across as a little abrupt when I followed her out of the lodge. It seemed they didn't have a first aid station and it wasn't an ambulance she needed. Sorry we didn't get to meet properly.

You know its very confusing. By the door there is a sign of first aid station (white cross) but when I asked, they don't really have one. At least I could use the loonie shower, the receptionist gave me a dollar for it. Thank you nice lady.

I asked at the beginning of the ride, forgot at the picnic, but I found a pair of gloves on the ground as our group left the Olympic Torch. Anyone know who I can return them to?

  • Pebeto

I put my name but will only come for the picnic. What time?

    September 3

  • Lisa

agree to the carpool. Nordic centre trails are narrow and in the trees. May need 3 groups depending. Best to ride there with max 6 in a group I think.

  • Alex

heya guys, I assume with 19 people going,, we'd split into a few groups?

    August 31, 2014

    • Grant P

Why not wait until we assemble at the Nordic center and divide up there. I haven't ridden much at the CNC so I might not be a good leader but I'd be good at exploring and getting lost. I'll be in whatever group contains the slackers :)
