For this Meetup, we will head to Shibuya Hikarie and check out the Pre-Setouchi Triennale 2013 exhibition that is currently taking place at CUBE 1/2/3. This exhibition is similar to the one for the Echigo Tsumari Triennale which took place last year at the same location.
The exhibition features models of new architectural works that will be unveiled during the Triennale, such as Tadao Ando’s ANDO MUSEUM on Naoshima and the Teshima Yokoo House by Tadanori Yokoo and Yuko Nagayama. Also on exhibit will be plans for various art installations on each island. Triennale passports, the official guidebook and other goods will be on sale at the venue.
I attended the Setouchi Triennale 2010 and it was a wonderful experience. This art festival is a nice complement to the Echigo Tsumari Triennale as Setouchi takes place on islands and ports so you travel by boat and have wonderful views of the sea and environment. I encourage people to check out the Setouchi Triennale 2013.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about this festival and make plans to visit this year! I also have information about a tour options that are happening during the first days of the festival and would be happy to share that information. I can answer any questions that members may have about going to the festival this spring, summer, or fall while we look around. Please ask!
We will take a look at the exhibition to get an idea of all the different artworks and performances that will be happening this year at the Setouchi Triennale and we can have a chat session to answer any further questions about the event.
Depending on the demand, I may hold one of these information sessions again in the summer and the fall just before the Setouchi Triennale takes place.
Please come by Shibuya Hikarie and spend a couple hours learning about this fantastic art festival.
In addition, a series of talk events (in Japanese only) with Triennale 2013 architects and artists will be held from March 1 to 4. The participants, who come from a broad range of fields encompassing the fine arts, architecture and the performing arts, will talk about the projects they are creating for the art festival. If you are interested in the talks, please click the link above to make a reservation and submit a 1000 yen participation fee.
