Contemporary Art Hopping in Ginza and Omotesando

For this Contemporary Art Hopping Meetup, we will first head to Ginza to see the following exhibitions:

Mitsuo Kim - "apart" | LIXIL Gallery (from Tokyo Art Beat) Mitsuo Kim's artworks are lacquered paraffin on top of paper, which is then printed onto silkscreen.  There are two other exhibitions at LIXIL Gallery which we will check out while we are there. Kasumi Tsukamoto and A House Design Fostered by the Village: Houses in Africa and Indonesia.

After the LIXIL Gallery we will walk a little bit through Ginza to see:

paramodel - "Chimerical Scheme of a Paramodellia" | Maison Hermes (from the press release) This exhibition features a new installation by Paramodel, an artist unit known for elaborate installations filled with Plarail model trains and tracks, mini cars and other toys.  An installation that endlessly models space; drawings on a temporary enclosure that suggest multi-storied buildings floating in air: the imaginations of paramodel are minutely detailed and, at the same time, appear as illusion.

After visiting Maison Hermes, we will hop on the Ginza line and head over to Omotesando.

"Urban Narratives" | Espace Louis Vuitton (from Tokyo Art Beat) Art historian and critic Nanak Ganguly curates the show, and he has selected four emerging Indian artists, all active in Kolkata (West Bengal, India), an area which he believes has contributed enormously to the creation of a contemporary visual world.

"Gallery Collection 2" | Gallery 360 This contemporary art gallery is holding a group exhibition featuring the works of Takashi Homma, Kyoko Nagashima, Shigeru Moroizumi, Heartbeat drawing SASAKI, and Lawrence Weiner.
