For this meetup, we are going to visit the Railway Museum in Saitama City.
The Railway Museum was opened on 14 October 2007 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of JR East. The mission of the museum is to preserve heritage of railways in Japan. For the purpose, it houses about 30 railway cars from the Meiji period to present, as well as train cab simulators, railway model dioramas, and other displays associated with railways.
The museum is a popular destination for Japanese children and railway enthusiasts. I am not into train culture. Trains are simply means of transportation to me, but I have been curious about the place since it opened. Let's check out this unique museum before it gets mobbed by children during their Summer vacation. This is not a typical Tokyo museum meetup event, but hopefully some of you are interested in joining us.
