Georges Barbier + Jean-Emile Laboureur Exhibition

  • May 12, 2012 · 3:00 PM
  • Nerima Art Museum

In this Meetup, let's check out an exhibition of Art Deco prints held at Nerima Art Museum.

"This exhibition showcases Art Deco works from Shigeru Kashima's collection by two French painters from Nantes, Georges Barbier and Jean-Emile Laboureur. Barbier is known for his lush fashion and magazine illustrations, film and stage sets and costume designs. Laboureur, on the other hand, was an artist who made sharp, defined prints in a very different style." (Tokyo Art Beat)

I am not familiar with either of these artists but Barbier's fashion illustrations look very attractive.  If you are a fan of Barbier, please participate in the event and enlighten us on him.

Location: Nerima Art Museum (Access Info)
Exhibition to see: Georges Barbier + Jean-Emile Laboureur Exhibition
Meeting Time: 03:00PM (15:00)
Meeting Spot: At the exit of Nakamurabashi station of The Seibu Ikebukuro Line

I knew French fashin in the era through Barbier's woodblock prints and drawing. It was intrested to learn it and the woodblock prints somehow recalled me of Japanese wood block one.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
