Man Ray: Unconcerned But Not Indifferent

Man Ray made his mark in art history as a member of Dadaism and Surrealism. He is best known as a photographer, but created captivating objects as well as paintings. I personally think that he is an underappreciated artist. He did not revolutionized art like his buddy, Marcel Duchamp did. He also was not a skillful self-promoter like his Surrealist friend, Salvador Dali. However, Man Ray engaged in creative activities more freely than those two and produced an impressive array of works both as a fine and commercial artist. The exhibition at The National Art Center offers us an opportunity to appreciate a wide range of works Man Ray created. Hope some of you are interested in exploring the world of Man Ray with me.
