New Meetup: BASARA Exhibition

Announcing a new Meetup for Tokyo Museum Meetup Group!

What: BASARA Exhibition

When: Wednesday, August 4,[masked]:00 PM

BASARA is an exhibition curated by a Japanese contemporary artist, Hisashi Tenmyouya. Some of you may be familiar with his works, but Tenmyouya is a painter who revived style and spirit of Japanese traditional paintings by infusing contemporary culture and the world of yakuza and juvenile delinquency into them. The artist curated this exhibition to showcase a side of Japanese culture which has been rather neglected by the art world. The focuses of this exhibition are aesthetic sensibilities of Samurai, Yakuza, and Bousouzoku (motorcycle gang). Please do not ask me what BASARA means since I have not clue about it. However, I am certain that this exhibition will be one of the most unique and interesting shows in Tokyo in this Summer. If some of you are free on next Wednesday evening, let's check out its opening, in which 13 guys with real Japanese tatoo will be present.
