Announcing a new Meetup for Tokyo Museum Meetup Group!
What: Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum
When: September 20, 2009 1:00 PM
Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)The Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum
The Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum showcases 27 historic buildings existed in Tokyo area from the Edo period to the beginning of the Showa era. These buildings were relocated from their original locations or reconstructed there in order to preserve architectural heritages of Tokyo. A renowned animator, Hayao Miyazaki visited this museum to get inspirations when he was working on "Spirited Away." Of course, an old bath house is one of the attractions of this museum. Those of you who are interested in Japanese architectures and fans of the wonderful Ghibli animation will enjoy this museum trip, I believe. Let's get lost in the land of forgotten dreams.
In addition to their permanent collections, they are showing old shop signs in their special exhibition space. I love those signs, especially the three dimensional ones. Hope I will be able to share my enthusiasm towards them with some of you.Location:
