Sun., 3/3/13: San Jose Museum of Art

I haven't been to this museum in a gazillion years, and I'd like to check out their permanent collection.  We can arrange a special time/tour if there are six or more of us.

There are many nice places to eat not too far from SJMA and a Dim Sum lunch was suggested (TBA).

Admission: Adults - $8; Students & Seniors - $5.  This is the first weekend of the month, so if you are a Bank of America customer, don't forget to take advantage of their "Museums on Us" program (free admission if you show them your BofA debit card).

Here's a description from their website:

The San Jose Museum of Art has a permanent collection of approximately 2,000 20th– and 21st–century artworks including paintings, sculpture, installation, new media, photography, drawings, prints, and artist books. The collection continues to evolve as a set of works reflecting important movements in recent art history, the accomplishments of emerging West Coast artists, acquisitions from our special exhibitions, and other significant works.

Let's meet in the lobby near the Info Desk. I'll email you my phone # and what I'll be wearing closer to the date.

I hope to see many of our South Bay members I haven't seen in a long time!

I was sick and couldn't go (suggestion: avoid precooked barbecued ribs from Safeway). How did someone get a bloody nose? Was it an argument about the art? Just curious.

SJ Art Museum was interesting...very small, so they keep exhibits in rotation. Lucy was a world-class organizer, of course, and she kept our unruly group under control

Not completely under control . . . what about that incident which resulted in one member getting a bloody nose?

I'm so sorry not to go this time. I'm meeting the refrigerator repairman tomorrow morning instead of looking at art. Next time for sure!

I have a BofA debit card, which I'll use to gain entry. I also have a Private Client Arts & Culture Program card through Chase for which I can invite 4 guests. Laura, Julie, Steven and Keith were the first 4 to RSVP, so I will let you guys use my Chase Private Client card for admission.

I will be nearby, attending Cinequest, otherwise would join you. If any of you are avid film-goers, consider making a big day of it and seeing one of the wonderful films being screened at Cinequest (it runs from Feb. 26 to March 10).

I'm interested in attending and I'd like to carpool. I live near Keith and see that he would carpool, so I'll email him. Otherwise I can offer a ride. I'm in the Dimond district, near Fruitvale Ave.

If Steve isn't going and nobody else from your neck of the woods is attending, I could pick you up at the Fremont BART station.
