'The British Museum' Treasure Hunt

  • March 9 · 1:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Come along on Saturday 9th March for a Treasure Hunt around the British Museum!

The British Museum was established in 1753 largely based on the collections of the physician   and scientist Sir Hans Sloane. The museum first opened to the public on 15 January 1759 in Montagu House in Bloomsbury, on the site of the current museum building.
The collection currently has over 8 million items and is the most visited museum in Britain.

The treasure hunts are a good way to get to know the history of an area whilst meeting and getting to know new people.

How it works
We will be meeting up at 1:30pm, when you will be randomly divided into teams of 5 people.

We will then give each team 15-20 written clues which you have to find the answers for. The answers can be found on exhibits in the museum.
It's up to your team to work together to find the answers. You can answer them in any order and we will provide a map of the museum to help you. It's not a race, so you can take your time getting to know the museum.

The team to get the most correct answers and then return to base (a local pub) will win a £10 gift voucher each!

If more than one team gets the top score, there will be a tie break question back at the pub.
A £5 gift voucher will be given to each member of the team coming in second place and a prize will be given to each member of the team with the best team name.

We will be charging £4 per person to take part, apart from '2013 Full Member's where it is free!

We will be marking the scores and presenting the prizes back at local pub at 4:30pm.

If you can't see us inside the gates of the museum, please call or text.

Look out for the group sign -

Look forward to seeing you there.

I had to have a cut off time to announce the scores (4:30pm), as some people wanted to go off and do other things. This still gave the last team who started at 2pm, 2h 30 mins to go round the museum and get to the pub.

Thanks to the other '4' Museum Pieces for all your hard work in what is a really fascinating museum. Hope you enjoy spending your vouchers - mine will remind me of its founder Hans Sloane!

You'll probably have to make the next treasure hunt harder Robert. Well organised as usual.

Really good fun and even though ours was one of the many teams which fell at the last hurdle on the tie break - boo, hoo - never mind, "it's not the winning but the taking part that counts" as they say. Look forward to the next one. Well organised - thanks again Robert for a fab day!
