Come along on Saturday 23rd March at either 1:45pm, 2:00pm or 2:15pm for a guided walk around historic Earls Court!
We have 3 guides and we will be starting the walk in 15 minute gaps, so please indicate which time/guide you wish to go with when you RSVP. If you've never attended before, all three guides are extremely good and qualified Blue Badge Guides, so just choose a random time (when you RSVP it may come up as 1:45pm for the time to attend, but just ignore that and just come along at your chosen time).
About the walk
We start with the a notorious "acid bath murderer" before entering an enclave of exclusive
Victorian London which has been home to varied personalities including Beatrix Potter, W S Gilbert and Princess Diana.
Princess Diana lived at 60 Coleherne Court, Old Brompton Road, from 1979 to 1981 in a 3-bedroom flat which was bought for her by her parents for £50,000 as an 18th birthday present. Diana lived there until February 1981 when she moved into Clarence House, on the night before her engagement to Prince Charles was officially announced.

In Brompton Cemetery we seek out graves of the famous including suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst. Nearby is Earls Court exhibition centre which has been home to Wild West shows, the royal tournament and rock stars.
We finish in cosmopolitan Earls Court with its elegant squares, lively atmosphere and village like early 19th century housing hidden away from the bustle of Earls Court Road.
The walk is a private walk for the group, we will split into 3 groups and we will be guided by Lucy McMurdo (1:45pm), Val Chris (2pm) & Diane Burstein (2:15pm). It will last about 2 hours.

The cost for the guides is £7 per person for Full Member's of the group and £9 per person for non-Members. (payable on the day).
Afterwards we will head to The Blackbird pub (209 Earls Court Road), which is very close to Earls Court Station for a chat over a drink. 'Full Members 2013' will be able to get a 10% discount on any drinks or food in the pub when they show their membership card.
If you can't see us outside the station, please call.
Look out for the group sign -
Hope to see you there!
Regards

Glad my fellow Culture seekers encouraged me to brave cold and wet for an enjoyable and informative afternoon with lovely warm up in local pub good company and chat. Even though I'm a Londoner I always find out something new on these walks.
Thanks Robert but please let me know if you can why I keep appearing above you on attendance list as am not an organiser & people might start talking .... as if :-)!!

Wonderful walk, so informative & well worth turning up in the snow for! Val kept us well supplied with varied & fascinating facts about the Earl's Court area... I would love to return to Brompton Cemetery to learn more about those who now rest there! The pub at the end was an excellent choice... Great company & plenty of warm drinks! Thank you for another great event!

I am sorry but have to cancel this one. Snowing here, dont fancy getting stressed due to travel disruption on a Saturday or slipping over in the snow. Hope you organize this event again soon.
