Come along on Saturday 12th January for a Treasure Hunt around the Museum of London Docklands!
The Museum of London Docklands is situated on the Isle of Dogs and tells the history of London's River Thames and Docklands. The museum opened in 2003 in a group of grade I listed early 19th century Georgian sugar warehouses (built in 1802). There is a large collection of historical artefacts, models, and pictures. It is a substantial museum with 12 galleries arranged over two of its floors.
The treasure hunts are a good way to get to know the history of an area whilst meeting and getting to know new people.
How it works
We will be meeting up at 1:30pm, when you will be randomly divided into teams of 5 people.
We will then give each team 15-20 written clues which you have to find the answers for. The answers can be found on exhibits in the museum.
It's up to your team to work together to find the answers. You can answer them in any order and we will provide a map of the museum to help you. It's not a race, so you can take your time getting to know the museum.

The team to get the most correct answers and then return to base (a local pub) will win a £10 gift voucher each!
If more than one team gets the top score, there will be a tie break question back at the pub.
A £5 gift voucher will be given to each member of the team coming in second place and a prize will be given to each member of the team with the best team name.
We will be charging £4 per person to take part, apart from '2012 Full Member's where it is free!
We will be marking the scores and presenting the prizes back at the pub at 4:30pm.
If you can't see us outside the DLR Station, please call or text.
Look out for the group sign -

Look forward to seeing you there.

My first meetup - I enjoyed it! Great museum. Our group slightly disintegrated as people wanted to go at different paces, but it was good to meet everyone.

Museum was a treasure at a great location, must revisit to do it justice. Treasure hunt made us think - well done CSI Docklands we were only half a point out! Good pub choice Robert for space and ability to chat to other members.

Woo hoo for Four Boys, One Girl and Another Girl! We didn't come in last... we were just un-first! I've lived in London for about three years and that's the first time I've visited the museum. I liked the little town construction, reminds me of the town they had back on Vancouver Island in the Royal BC Museum. Good event!

could not go to this unfortunately just wondered if Robert is going to repeat it ?
Thanks

It would help another time if each group could have more than one copy of the clues.

As always with these events, Roberts questions were well researched & it was a fascinating museum to visit & explore! I plan to return soon to enjoy the exhibitions again! Good to get to know new folk, too!

I see that the Jubilee Line has a stop at Canary Wharf. Is it possible to walk to the West India Quay DLR from there? If so, what is the best route?

if you log on to ttransport for London or Google maps you will be able to see all your options

Hi Vanessa, You can communicate through mime. It'll be like a long game of charades...3 words, it's a place...

Hi Robert + everyone else - I was planning to come along to the treasure hunt on Saturday, but I've lost my voice. Is it still worth me coming along as I can't really talk?

Hello, I have seen a bit of press about this so I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else was interested.
The London Ice Sculpture Festival is on next door in Canary Wharf this weekend. The doubles competition is 10 to 12 on Saturday, I might head along for a look in the morning before this meet as I'll be in the area
