If you have ever been to the History Theater you know they do an excellent job. There productions are thoughtful and the acting is top notch. So far we have seen two of this seasons plays and were very glad we went. The next play in the series is Courting Harry, about two friends from St. Paul, who became Supreme Court Justices. I have no doubt that this play will be as interesting and well done as the others we have seen. I have seats reserved for us. This is a prepay event, the cost is $31.25 if using Pay Pal and $29.00 if paying by check. Let me know if you need my address and I will send it to you. I will need to have your payment by February 28th.
Two best friends who grew up in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood in St. Paul, both went on to become Supreme Court Justices and presided over some of the most influential and controversial cases of modern American history. This brilliant new play by Lee Blessing explores the lifelong friendship between Chief Justice Warren Burger and Justice Harry Blackmun, which was tried and tested by politics, ambition, and ideologies. Blackmun and Burger come together again to look back over their lives and careers together, including the case that remains one of the most passionately disputed decisions of all time: Roe v. Wade.
The History Theater is located on 10th Street between Wabash and Cedar Street. It shares the building with the McNally - Smith School of Music. Look for the building with the yellow lit signs with "H" sticking out from the side of the building. I strongly suggest getting there early to get free parking in the lot directly across from the theater. There is a sign that says no parking, but it is okay to park there after 4:30. There is also on street parking around the theater.
We have found that it doesn't work very well to try and get together before the play, so those interested will get together afterward for socializing and discussion. I hope many of you will be able to join us.
The last play of the season is "This Side of Paradise" about F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda. We have tickets reserved for May 3rd. I will be posting this soon.
