Another Free Movie Opportunity- Philomena

Charisse has alerted me to another free screening for us to view. I am a huge Judi Dench fan and I've never seen anything she was in that I didn't like. This movie is based on a true story and sounds very compelling.  I'm even willing to get up early on a Saturday morning to see it. Use the link below to order your tickets.

Please post if you have an extra ticket to share with another member.

After the movie we can have lunch at one of the West End restaurants.

Philomena

Synopsis: Based on the 2009 investigative book by BBC correspondent Martin Sixsmith, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, PHILOMENA focuses on the efforts of Philomena Lee (Dench), mother to a boy conceived out of wedlock—something her Irish-Catholic community didn’t have the highest opinion of—and given away for adoption in the United States. In following church doctrine, she was forced to sign a contract that wouldn’t allow for any sort of inquiry into the son’s whereabouts. After starting a family years later in England and, for the most part, moving on with her life, Lee meets Sixsmith (Coogan), a BBC reporter with whom she decides to discover her long-lost son.

Release Date: Opens in Theaters Friday, November 22, 2013

This is a must see movie. It was extremely well done and told a true story that needed to be told.

From an adopted person point of view, I was abandoned on a doorstep at age 2-1/2 with my birth name, DOB & place of birth pinned to my clothing. I was also told that my "records were destroyed in a fire". I was adopted in 1969 and was on the 2nd flight from Seoul, South Korea, when Korean adoption began. There was shame and disownment to unwed mothers and their families. Prostitution would have been my mother's way of life. Ironically, I saw this movie on my birthday, and every year on this day, I think about my birthmother.

Hi. This will be my first event with this group. For which I will be getting out of bed early on a Saturday morning. I have conflicted feelings about that.

    • Linda B.

I'm not a morning person either, but when a good opportunity knocks I have to answer, even early on a Saturday morning. Just so you know, I do schedule most of my activities in the afternoon.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
