Well it's on to our next class at Highpoint. The neat thing about these classes is that even though each class is the next step in a process we have learned, it is not necessary to have taken those classes. So that means that if you've never taken a printmaking class, you are very welcome to join us for this class. What I can tell you is that every time we have a class, some really impressive prints are created and we have a great time learning and socializing at the same time. Dana, our talented instructor and her assistants really enjoy having us and make every class such a fun experience, it's no surprise that the question I get asked at the end of each class is what's next. As long as there is an interest and a desire to learn, we will keep on doing these classes. Because the director of Highpoint appreciates our support, she offers these classes to us a a discounted price. THIS IS A PREPAY CLASS. The cost for this three hour class is $23.00. This covers all materials needed, you will be able to make as many prints as time allows and you can take your block home. Payments can be made on Pay Pal or Amazon and as always, I will accept personal checks. (cash is always good) If you need my address to send a check, contact me by clicking on my photo, and send message on my profile page. I have been asked to limit the class to 20 participants. One more thing, you do not have to be a super fantastic artist to take this class, if I can do it, anyone can. You may surprise yourself. PAYMENTS ARE DUE BY AUGUST 25TH.
ABOUT REDUCTIVE RELIEF PRINTING
Many members have taken the relief class in the past. In this class we created prints by using tools to carve into linoleum block, inking the blocks' then running them through the press. We were able to add different colors, but the final print was one dimensional, removing material from the block with each new color adds demention. To see example of a reductive relief print, check out the photos from our last class. The photo of the pizza print is what we will be doing. Of course each person will create their own design.
In a reduction print all colors are printed from the
same block. With each color pass the artist removes more material from the block, while the previous color is drying. The printable area of a single block is reduced with each pass. We will be adding two to three colors to our prints.
We generally start each class with a quick tour of the current exhibit in the galleries. So if you can't be there exactly 5:30, it won't be a problem. MEET IN THE CLASSROOM. ENTER HIGHPOINT THROUGH THE WELL LIT REAR ENTRANCE. (The front will also be open). PARKING IS AVAILABLE ON THE STREET AND IN THE BUILDINGS PARKING LOT ACCESSED FROM COLFAX AVE.
