Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)
Have you ever stopped to think if the most ordinary, uninteresting, unobtrusive man you might see on the road or around you might have a love story to tell? Maybe not. But love does not differentiate between the ordinary and exceptional, the uninteresting and interesting, the unattractive and attractive. Because love knows no distinction. It can happen to anyone and once it does it engulfs us into it completely and gives us those miraculous experiences that only love can yield. This is what happened to Surinder Sahni--a simple, clean hearted, honest man working for Punjab Power, leading a humdrum life, when he meets his total opposite and finds love in the flamboyant, fun-loving, vivacious Taani--for whom the whole world is her canvas.

Per Galaxy's website: http://www.galaxyfunp...
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is the story of an 'odd' couple played by 'Shahrukh Khan' and 'Anushka Sharma' who find true love in the backdrop of a dance competition called "Dancing Jodi".

Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan) , a man working for Punjab Power, who falls in love with Taani (Anushka Sharma) the flamboyant, fun-loving, vivacious girl for whom the whole world is her canvas and she paints her own life with the colours of rainbow all until unforeseen circumstances changes it all and brings them together.

They get married and lead a not-so happy life due to huge age difference between Surinder and Taani. Taani, meanwhile, wants to participate in a reality dance show called "Dancing Jodi," which is the main backdrop of the movie. The dance contest showcases couples of all races, colours, backgrounds and sexual preferences. Taani wants to take part for the show, but she is not able to due to her husband's lack of fashion statement.

Later on when Surinder finds out about his wife's wish to participate in the reality dance show, he undergoes a major change. Taani keeps falling in love with her changed husband.

If I don't put this on the calendar I'll never get around to going. I've been wanting to go to one of the three galaxy cinemas to catch a bollywood movie.

We don't know what will be playing this far in advance. I'll update the posting with a movie and time a couple few days before the event. Therefore the date/time may change. I don't know if the movies are subtitled. But if the movie is musical it won't matter too much since it might be 2 hours of singing/dancing in beautiful, brightly colored outfits.

Ghajini starts at 3:35pm. If some of you want to go with Priya to see it, give her a shout. I'm not into it since it's a 3 hour subtitled remake of Memento, a movie I did not like the first time around.

Sure, I'll check closer to our meetup date what's playing there and make a recommendation.

Who attended?

  • 10 attendees
    •  Better than expected and the company was great quality as always.
    •  It was a very good romantic comedy, cute and very touching.
    •  Good turnout! thanks guys. Good movie w/ 2 intermissions (including the film literally melting). Thanks Akshi for the recommendation- it had all the elements I was looking for - music, singing, dancing, lovely costumes and lovely scenery of india...and like you said, the melodrama.
    •  I really enjoyed the movie. Even though it was light fare, I still had the feeling there was something to ponder there.. I just can't quite put my finger on it. The Palace was great, too. Wonderful food and a very nice little group of people.
    •  The movie was great and I would certainly enjoy attending other Bollywood movies.
