Announcing a new event for The (live music, film, art and more) meetup!

What: Two Art Events

When: Saturday, January 5, 7:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: More artists have joined the group lately so maybe we'll get a better turnout for these events:

Let's first meet at Foundation One Gallery 7pm for this: http://www.foundationonegallery.com/show13/web/otherworlds.html
?OTHERWORLDS? EXPLORES NEW WORKS BY JESSE RENO, WARREN DYKEMAN & JOHN TINDEL
Opening Reception: Saturday, January 5, 2008 from 7PM to 11PM

JESSE RENO
Inspired by pre-historic societies and ancient mythology, Reno?s work explores a complex relationship between humanity and nature as well as the struggle of humankind seeking to find its rightful place in the Earth?s natural habitat. Child-like depiction of animals, and calculated use of typography are reminiscent of ancient cave art, which, much like Reno?s work itself, is an attempt to understand human existence on planet Earth.

WARREN DYKEMAN
Dykeman?s current series of paintings deal with images interpreted from the computer and sketchbook, projected and hand drawn. Much of the imagery has been photographed from sketchbooks and traced with the computer, then projected back on to canvas. These paintings attempt to project rhythmic compositions, by merging awkward figures, cursive type and abstract shapes.

JOHN TINDEL
Compressed layers of symbolism, wit, and figures that pose on pastel color pallets are unmistakably the imagery of John Tindel. Striving to understand his personal history and place in today's society, the works progress rapidly evolving from familiar aesthetics to experimental processes with no boundaries. New works, created for ?Otherworlds?, explore the birth of new characters and processes coming together in scenes depicting the lore of the South.

Then go to Mint Gallery for this event: Saint solo show "Kenetic Electric" - opens January 5th, 7-11- described as a sci-fi comic opera. There are misspellings on this poster: http://www.myspace.com/mintshowroom but better details on Thoughtmarker blog. Mint is located on 684 John Wesley Dobbs Ave, Unit B, 30312- somewhere near the Carter Center and Freedom Parkway- you can find it on Google Maps but not Yahoo.

Sorry if this is somewhat last minute- I usually find these long after opening night. Plus my computer's dead so I've lost access to my bookmarks/art blogs. But this Thoughtmarker is a good one, as are the links on Beep Beep Gallery: http://thoughtmarker.blogspot.com/ BTW- on Fri Jan 4th at the Five Spot is Handjob Atlanta starting at around 10 pm. Artists will be painting live alongside a DJ w/ a streetfighter tournament?? Anyone interested? See the blog for more info.

*This event may be cancelled if there's a low body count.*
