Sounds great, Mary.  Where will it be playing?

Announcing a new event for The (live music, film, art and more) meetup!

What: Movie: The Last Winter

When: Saturday, February 23, 3:00 PM

Event fee: USD5.00 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: An environmental horror film? It's got Ron Perlman (not the one formerly married to Ellen Barkin but the one in Beauty and the Beast) and James LeGros- I don't remember him from Drugstore Cowboy (that movie is worth renting again).

Per GSU's website:
In the Arctic tundra of Northern Alaska, an advanced team working for a petroleum exploration company is engaged in a massive project to exploit the oil resources of the pristine land. After one crewmember is found dead, a disorientation slowly claims the sanity of the other members of the team as each of them succumbs to an unknowable fear. This creeping dread bursts open when a malevolent wind brings down a plane that approaches the station. Explosions and carnage wreak havoc on the team and all functions fail in the camp, forcing two of the members out into the cold on a desperate bid for survival. As the two journey to find help, they find themselves utterly alone in a world that is unraveling--either they are being stalked by an invisible herd of menacing phantoms, or they are going mad. Directed by Larry Fessenden (Wendigo) and staring Ron Perlman (Hellboy, City of Lost Children).

Produced by IFC. The movie's filming locations are Alaska and Iceland, so I'm expecting spectacular scenery and/or a cameo by Bjork.

This movie runs for one wk only. Since GSU is super creepy at night, I picked daylight wkend hours, which can also be creepy. Lunch is possible beforehand, but I may post that on my dining out meetup. Also, if you've not been to this venue before, allow yourself time to find the building and a place to park. Contact GSU for info. Bring cash for the movie, refreshments and parking. They have $1 bottles of soda and $.50 popcorn! Movie tix are $5.

As you're driving up Courtland (one way st) you'll see a white building that says University Center on the left. It's before you get to the top of the hill. The last door on this bldg has a sign above it that says "Cinefest".

*This event may be cancelled if the turnout is low* Also, GSU is known to cancel shows on occasion, so be prepared and check their website as they usually post this ahead of time, but they also may do so last minute.
