When: May 29,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: *I'll update movie time closer to the date. It opens May 22, so if it's only playing for one week I'll move this back to Thurs 5/28.

If you like Spinal Tap or metal music, then you should really see this. If not, you should still see it because it's supposed to be a feel good movie. Good reviews. These guys were on Jimmy Kimmel last night and really likable. It is a documentary that's funny- so many things go wrong it feels like a mocumentary.

"At 14, Toronto school friends Steve 'Lips' Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock together forever...But Anvil's career took a different path?straight to obscurity. Director Sacha Gervasi has concocted a wonderful and often hilarious account of Anvil's last-ditch quest for elusive fame and fortune. His ingenious filmmaking may first lead you to think this a mockumentary, but it isn't. It's fascinating to see the reality of their day-to-day lives as they struggle to make ends meet, take a misguided European tour, and engage in antics on the road?which is not always lined with fans."?John Cooper, Sundance Film Festival

Here's a piece of a review from Slate: http://www.slate.com/id/2215828/
In the year or so that Gervasi follows Anvil around, the band is invited on a disastrous European tour by Tiziana Arrigoni, an Italian fan-turned-inept-manager who leads them on an ill-planned and worse-paid trek through the empty nightclubs of Eastern Europe. In Prague, the band's van gets lost in winding streets, and they arrive so late at the gig that the club owner pays them in bowls of goulash. The low point comes in Romania, where the boys are booked in a 20,000-seat arena?for an audience of 174. "I try," weeps the hapless Tiziana as the band members miss yet another train out of town.
