Blues Jam 2.0 - Let the Jamming Continue...

Come to this FREE jam session to practice and learn the 12-Bar Blues, one of the easiest song-writing foundations to have in your bag of tricks. It's 2014 so we'll be stepping it up a notch. First thing, we have a new location at Guitar Center Sessions. Bring your guitar, bass, drum sticks, your voice, and that's it. The facility will provide everything else. Second, musicians will be rotating in and out to accommodate more people and different jam combinations. Third, a "Fan Favorite" prize at the end of the jam will be awarded to the person voted on as everyone's favorite musician. Fourth, these jams will be recorded live and copies of each jam will be available for download to all. If you missed the last sessions, check out the files to see the great jams that generated out of this event.

To prepare for this fun event, get familiar with the I-IV-V 12-bar blues. Examples include: Sweet Home Chicago Johnny B Goode Crossroads Hound Dog Jailhouse Rock Jump, Jive, and Wail Layla Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (U2) and many more.

An example, the 12-Bar Blues in the Key of A is as follows: A A A A D D A A E D A A(E) If you don't know what this means, you will after the session and will be wanting to try it on some of your own future hit songs.

All levels of musicians welcome. If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to send me an email. Look forward to jamming with you all.

We will pick a couple of keys at the session to work on.

I'm volunteering in the morning, so I may not make it by 11 am sharp, but I'll be dropping by for sure and I'm bringing my blues harps.

Hi, is this primarily for electric guitar? I work with an acoustic, and don't have a pickup.
