You need a laptop with Lightroom 3, 4 or 5 installed to participate in this workshop. You do NOT need a laptop to audit the workshop.
If you are participating with a laptop you MUST RSVP by clicking on the RSVP button at right. You will be charged and registered for this meetup.
If you do not have a laptop and are interested in just auditing the workshop DO NOT RSVP to this meetup. Instead, enter the following comment in the 'comments' section; "I will be auditing this meetup". Auditors will pay at the door on the day of the event. Please do not pull a 'no-show'.
Space is limited. I am limiting this to seven participants and four auditors. If you can not make the workshop please delete your audit comment so others have a chance to attend.
Adobe's Lightroom (3, 4 and 5) is a feature rich digital image post processing tool. It can be very intimidating and complex for the beginning photographer. This workshop will introduce you to the basic editing features of this complex program. We'll go over many of the functions and tools necessary to make your images look great. The tools will be covered in a real-world application as we edit images simultaneously. Before the hands-on part of the workshop I will explain the following;
- Organizing images into your library
- Maintaining your image catalog
- Maximizing your digital workflow
For the hands-on portion of the workshop you will work simultaneously on images as I display them to the class. You will be able to follow along, step by step, as we go over Lightroom's tools such as;
- Understanding the various modules
- Correcting common image problems
- Enhancing with brushes and gradients
- Creating and working with presets
- Watermarking images
- Exporting for web or print
What You Need: The best way to learn this program is with hands-on lessons. Bring your laptop with Lightroom 3, 4 or 5 installed. I will be using version 4 but be aware that there are some differences between these three releases.
If you don't have a laptop but still interested in attending, feel free to come. I will be projecting my computer on a large screen so you can see what I am doing and follow along. You can also sit next to someone willing to share and look over their shoulder.
A notepad and pen are useful for jotting notes for future reference.
Prerequisite: This is a workshop designed to help you get started in Lightroom. It is NOT a basic computer class so you will need to know the following;
- How to navigate your files with a file browser
- How to create, move and rename file folders
You should also have a working understanding of image sizing and how pixels relate to display and print size. You can read up on this on my blog at "Understanding Megapixels" and "Pixel vs. DPI". You can also find helpful tips on "Portrait post processing".
