Pro Portrait Studio Shoot

This event is being co-hosted in with Shutter Buds.

This event is designed to introduce you to portrait and fashion lighting using a variety of techniques. During this event you will be introduced to the three different lighting choices available to photographers; continuous lights, portable speedlights and study flashes. Each have their benefits and drawbacks and you will be able to experience some of this at this event.

There will be several lectures throughout the day to give you ideas on lighting setups, working with a subject/model and general studio procedures. By the end of the day you will have a sense of what can be done with the various setups and how you can use that in your own personal work.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

8:30am - Registration begins. Please try to be in before 9:00
9:00-10:10 - Lecture/instruction session one
10:10-12:30 - Model shoot at various stations
12:30-1:00 -
Lunch break
1:00-1:30 -
Lecture/instruction session two
1:30-3:50 -
Model shoot at various stations
4:00-4:30 - Q&A and wrap up

WHAT TO BRING:

We are providing all the light setups and models, you just need to bring your camera. Since this is a portrait shooting event a good portrait lens is suggested. A portrait lens is any lens that lies in the[masked]mm range (depending on sensor size) where 80, 100 and 120mm are the most commonly used lengths.

Don't forget freshly charged batteries and plenty of memory cards. This is a full day event with very little opportunity to charge batteries. Make sure you come prepared.

LUNCH:

The Hawthorne Inn has a restaurant on premisses but we may not have the time for a full sit down lunch. They have also asked that we do not bring outside food into the event space. There is a Subway down the street. The best bet will be to make or buy your lunch ahead of time and bring it with you. You can eat out in the parking area or travel a short distance to a small picnic area. Just keep in mind that you will need to go outside the building for lunch.

It's a bit of an inconvenience but we have to abide by the Hawthorne's rules. If you bring your own make sure you store it so it remains safe and cool until it's time to eat.

Water will be readily available throughout the day.

PLEASE NOTE: This is in conjunction with Sue Fenton and Shutter Buds. If you are a member of Shutter Buds and you have already signed up there do not sign up here also. You will be charged twice if you do so.

I am accepting PayPal for payment but if you would rather pay through Amazon you can do so at Shutter Buds.

Here is the Scott Kelby link (sorry...I got so excited there and forgot!) http://kelbytraining.com/onair

I just had to share this with those who attended the Pro Portrait Studio. Scott Kelby is presenting a FREE almost 2-hour lesson on studio lighting that is looping continuously 24/7 until November 27! It is EXCELLENT! Just sign up (for free.) It'll be in progress when you log in. Watch it to the end...and watch the rest when it replays.
Scott talks in a very conversational manner and masterfully shows you the techniques so you easily "see" and "get" the concepts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Had a great time yesterday! Thanks for inviting me Duck. The event was a huge success. I know how difficult it can be to get everything organized, and you guys did a bang-up job!!

It's amazing what can happen when people believe in the vision, come together, and contribute their time, talents and spirit. Our station leaders were outstanding and gave the 6th rotation session as much care and attention as they did the first. You got 30 people really fired up about portraits! The models were terrific and worked hard, too. Thank you, photographers, for being so cooperative, having great attitudes, and working together so well in your groups. It's a pleasure to plan events for people like you! Keep posting those beautiful portraits!

Exceptional Event! Duck and Sue have completely out done themselves. Mark exceed expectations as my model and was very popular today. My fellow photographers let their creative side show at my mini studio which just made the event that much better. Totally exhausted now and would love to sleep in tomorrow but back to work I go but with a great story to tell.

This was freaking wonderful. I loved the set-ups, the superb models from beginner to practiced (seriously if I hadn't been told, I wouldn't have realized that one of these had never modeled for photographers before), and the directors at each of the 6 stations. I am already sorting through my photos from today. Thanks and mega kudos to everyone involved in putting this event together. (I am looking at my home in a new (ahem) light... to see what I can do here for starters.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
