Understanding your dSLR

Now that you have that brand new digital single lens reflex camera what are you going to do with it?

It's one thing reading the manual, taking a few pictures and then seeing how they look. It's a totally different thing having someone guide you and answer your questions.
In preparation for our upcoming trip to Boston's Quincy Market, let's get together to go over camera basics. This will be a casual discussion about your camera to help you become more comfortable with the buttons, lenses, functions and anything else you may have a problem with.

If things go well and weather permits we will be outside taking photos of whatever happens to be around. The goal is to analyze a problem and find a solution, through practical application, that will help you learn how best to use your equipment.

We'll go over exposure, depth of field and all those other concepts that people have a hard time wrapping their thoughts around as a new dSLR shooter. If weather is bad we will head indoors and take things accordingly.

WHAT TO BRING: Definitely bring your camera, lenses, and any other piece of gear you may have a question about. Also bring your instruction manual for the camera since I am not familiar with all the models out there.

Will you repeat this class? Looks like a great starting place for me. I purchased my first DSLR in Feb and looked at the manual, took some pics but would love a small group to go over all the info. Be interested if you do it again. Thanks, Deb

Excellent workshop about depth of field, exposure, and off-camera flash. I came with a list of questions, and they were all answered.

Duck, I signed up for the class you're teaching in Naugatuck and saw this today. Question...would this be covered in your class of is it something different?

I'll be covering the same material, just in a more informal manner. This session is more targeted to the problems each member may have with their camera while the class is broader in scope.
