Duck- I've yet to make an event yet but I too would pay. When I finally get time in between work and taking care of aging Mom's, I'd like to recognise and meet you, Diane and other members! :)

Subject: [My-Photo-Group] Meetup ID tags

In the past there has been a casual discussion about how members can identify each other during an event that also includes the public (street shoots, festivals, parades, etc.) Sue Fenton had suggested each member tie a red ribbon onto the camera strap, belt loop or other visible area. That is probably one of the best ideas put forth yet.

But the the issue of conformity and happenstance comes into play. Not everyone will want to sport a red ribbon (guys) which leaves other red items such as bandanas and scarves to step in as markers. But what if it's just some random guy who happens to be wearing a red bandana? Suddenly the poor guy is asked by a dozen people about a photo group meet up he has no clue about. Which led me to another idea.

The logo is highly recognizable by us all. It's bright red and distinctive black on white logo is highly visible. I can have these made up as double sided plastic tags with a hole at one end for a hanging clip. Since they are not group specific they can be used for any Meetup group you belong to. Now when you're in a crowd of people all you have to do is look for the distinctive red tag and you know that person is a member of your group. Here is a sample of what the tag would look like.

Unfortunately these are custom items and therefore not cheap. The company I've used in the past makes high quality cards but they cost about $20 each ($6 of that is shipping) to print and includes the little metal hanging clip. There is no minimum so I can order one or 100 and the price would be the same. Actually it may be cheaper since sipping would be spread out, so it would be more like $15. That works as people can order them as they feel the need for them.

Hey, I could offer them for free but then that means I'd have to start charging an annual membership fee and I'd rather not go that route. I do plan on picking up a couple of them so people can see for themselves what they look like and then decide if they want one.
