World Laughter Day

World Laughter Day 2013 takes place on May 05. The first celebration was on January 11, 1998, in Mumbai, India, and was arranged by the founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement. Laughter Yoga says: Laughter is a positive and powerful emotion.  The celebration of World Laughter Day was meant to be a positive manifestation for world peace and to build up a global consciousness of friendship.  Laughter Yoga has grown to over 6000 Laughter Clubs worldwide on all 5 continents.

The "laughter" is physical in nature, and does not necessarily involve humor or comedy. Laughter is easily stimulated in a group when combined with eye contact, childlike playfulness and laughter exercises. Fake laughter quickly becomes real. Bring friends & family, you don't need to know yoga to do this & have fun.

The main part of the event is from 11 am to 1 pm. If you want to bring any food and have a picnic after 1 pm, you can also do that. It's not a potluck but many of us want to stay and chat and have lunch following all the laughter and hooping.

Anyone want to carpool? It's $8-10 to park near the beach though there's free validation at the farmer's market if you leave before a certain time.

The person who led the class at the Montana Branch library is Hilary Kimblin Licht and she will also be there leading us in some laughter exercises. Depending on the weather, you can come in sweats or other pants; whatever you're comfortable in. We have had some cool but sunny days on World Laughter Days in the past, but it will most likely be sunny and warm so dress accordingly and bring your friends and family too!

This will be a great way to introduce newcomers to Laughter Yoga.
No knowledge of Yoga is required. Just come and be prepared to laugh with lots of people who love to laugh!
