The Roaring Twenties: Movie "The Great Gatsby" & Dinner at Musso & Frank Grill

***Update***

Please purchase your ticket on line at www.arclightcinemas.com

Under "Location" - select "Hollywood" - select "coming soon" - select "The Great Gatsby" - then, click "see more dates" which will display show times for May 11th, Saturday.

Then, click "2:20 pm" and purchase your ticket.

All Arclight theaters are reserved seating and you can select your own seat.

I am sitting at "L21". Please purchase tickets for row L, close to seat number 21 to sit together. "L21" is the exact center seat on row L. Please make sure that you are purchasing a ticket for, May 11, Saturday, 2:20 pm, at Hollywood location.

There are other Arclight locations, so please double check before you purchase your ticket. You can print the ticket at home and that is your final ticket.

To "YES" RSVP's:

After you purchase your ticket, please post your seat number in the comment section.  Please purchase your ticket before April 30th, Tuesday.

I ask for your understanding in advance, because I will move you to "the wait list" if you do not purchase your ticket by that date, and move people up from the wait list.

This movie for sure will get sold out, and if you wait till the last minute to purchase your movie ticket, either you won't be able to, or you will end up sitting at the first row on the side.

Here is the final schedule:

1:45 pm: Meet me at Arclight Cafe Patio

2:05 pm: We will go inside the theater

2:20 pm: Show Time

5:30 pm: Dinner at Musso & Frank Grill

************************************************************************

We read the book together last October at our book club.  It's only natural that we shall see the movie together when it opens in May.

"The Great Gatsby" is one of the greatest American novels ever written, and my personal favorite.  I love the story and am looking forward to seeing the film adaptation.

Since the setting of the movie is the roaring twenties, I thought it would be fun to make a complete "The Roaring Twenties" evening by going to an iconic Hollywood roaring twenties restaurant, The Musso & Frank Gill, after the movie.

If you are not familiar with The Musso & Frank Grill, do some google search to find out the history of this Hollywood's oldest restaurant, circa 1919.  F. Scott Fitzgerald himself used to eat and drink here, and countless Hollywood movie stars wined and dined at this very location.

Come dressed up.  It will be a fun evening.  I promise :)

Hi Harriet, since you indicated that you won't be able to make it, I changed your RSVP to No. Erica, I understand that you wont' be joining us for dinner, but it's O.K. to join us pre-movie at the cafe and the movie.

Hi Dena, I will probably wear some pearls and a dress - but will not be in some kind of a costume :) You don't have to dress up, but if you want to, that will be awesome. Dress however you want.

Hello Ladies....I'm afraid I have to cancel. I have to be back in the long beach area around 6:00 and don't think that will leave much time for dinner and discusion. I would just catch the movie with you all but somehow I bought a seat number next to people not in our group so that wouldn't be much fun....oh well : (

I won't be able to make it Saturday. I have printout for a movie ticket. If anyone is in the Valley, I can bring it them at no charge. Just let me know.

Hi Gigi, I would have loved to have everybody come, but the seating of the restaurant does not allow me to open the event to the size larger than 8. There will be more movie events in the future. See you soon!

Hi Erica, this is only for my sisters keeper event. I don't know who is sitting at L25, but as long as you are sitting on row L, we will all be close together and should be O.k.

Sure, Gigi. Go ahead and purchase your ticket. You can always watch the movie with the group regardless of your RSVP status. At the end of April, I will check back with everybody to see who has purchased the ticket and who hasn't, and see what I can do regarding dinner reservation. Musso & Frank gets busy if there is a show playing at Pantages, and there is a show at 8 pm on the night of our reservation. The show playing is "Rain", so M&F may not get busy... we will wait and see.

Please purhchase your ticket per the instruction provided in the body of the event description. Please post your seat number after you purchase your ticket. If you do not post your seat number by April 30th, I will assume that you have not purchased your ticket and will move you to "the wait list" and move somebody from the wait list to join the group for movie and dinner. Thank you for your understanding in advance. This is my effort to accomodate as many members as possible to join both movie and the dinner. This movie will get sold out... I don't know how fast :) but it will get sold out.

And Baz Luhrman directing so it will be fabulous!

O.K. Tickets are on-sale, but they have changed the showtime to 2:20 pm. I am going to wait for a day to make sure that they do not change it again. I called and asked them about it and was told that there were scheduling conflicts in regards to theater capacity... I guess they want to show more popular movie in a larger theater to maximize their profit :) Will advise you when you can purchase your ticket.

    April 17, 2013

  • Kay

No, this is the new one with Leo, Carey & Tobey. I expect this new one will be flashier than 1974 version for many reasons. I loved 1974 version and thought Robert Redford was perfect to play Gatsby. We will find out if Leo can play it as good as Redford.

Hi Wanda, I just spoke to Arclight Hollywood. They are doing some show time update for "The Great Gatsby" so they have temporarily disabled on-line purchase of all non-3D show purchase. They told me that it will be back on after Noon, today. I will double check and then post the update. Thank you for letting me know.

    April 16, 2013

  • Wanda

Kay, I was thinking I might join your group, but I don't see a 2:40pm show for Gatsby at Arclight Hollywood on their website. ?

    April 16, 2013

  • Kay

RSVPing to this event does not guaratee that you will be able to see the movie and come to the dinner with the group. You must purchase your ticket before it gets sold out. Also, if you are not coming to the movie with the group, you won't be able to attend dinner. Dinner is for the members who participate in the movie portion of this event and are not open to "dinner only" participants. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
