"Relationship" Series 6: "I, Me, Myself" - My relationship with myself
The Book: "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert
I have a confession to make. I am not a fan of Elizabeth Gilbert. I found her writing at times snobbish in a very elementary intellectual-wanna-be kind of way... I could not relate to her because her struggle seemed superficial, instead of being sincere. Yet, I have read this book many times during the past few years, and I highly recommend this book to any woman.
I am fascinated that she was able to complete her one year journey across Italy, India and Bali, without giving up. I applaud her because her journey was not something grand, yet I found it to be monumental because her grandest journey was not the places she visited, but her struggle to get along with herself and be at peace with herself.
So, the finale of our "Relationship" series is the relationship with oneself.
This should be a fun book club, and the structure will be quite different from the other book clubs I have had so far. Yes, I will still have my pop quiz and prizes. But I will also have personality test which everybody can participate in. Also, we will talk a lot about the book itself than previous book club events.
Please READ the book. We will only discuss Eat (Italy) and Pray (India). The movie was more about Love (Bali), so you won't be able to participate in any of the book club activities if you don't read the book.
Parking is valet, but it's complimentary. You just need to tip the valet attendant. If you prefer, you can park in the meter outside on the street. The restaurant, Cecconi's, is one of my favorite brunch spots in LA. Decor is cute and charming, and they serve my favorite coffee, LA Mill coffee. Yeah!!! Because of the noise level, we will sit inside, not in the patio area.
Please be on time.
