MSK Goes To Not Quite Vegas 2

  • Feb 23, 2013 · 7:00 AM
  • Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino

LET’S DO IT AGAIN!

Ladies, we are taking our second road trip to the state line, where we will spend 8 hours of gambling, shopping and having plain ole fun away from home.

My Sister’s Keeper is chartering a bus on 2/23/13, where attendees have an option to be picked up at 7:00am sharp at the Park and Ride at 120th Street and Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles or at 2835 N. Naomi Street, Burbank, 91504, shortly after.

For 20 bucks, you get a safe and comfortable ride to Buffalo Bill's and back. There will be music and movies on the bus, and prizes to be raffled off. And snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. **But that doesn’t mean you can’t get your drink on! You just have to BYOB! Also, a free pass to Buffalo Bill's buffet will be presented to each person in attendance.

There are three casinos at the California/Nevada State Line (officially named Primm Valley, NV) and an outlet mall which you can take the tram to, and a roller coaster (if your thrill is in riding on big and scary things).

PLEASE NOTE:  YOU MUST PAY SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH YOUR RSVP - PLEASE DON'T RSVP UNLESS YOU ARE IMMEDIATELY PAYING VIA PAYPAL (OR SENDING A CHECK) See instructions below on payment options. Please be mindful that if you RSVP, it is because you do intend on attending, AND YOU MUST PAY SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH YOUR RSVP. This event includes anyone over 25. So bring a guest, or two or three…

Please email Carol or Kimberly, or text Kimberly [masked]) if you have any questions.

If you have a must-see movie (upbeat, of course), please bring it. (Honestly, though, these road trips are so much fun - who will have time to concentrate on a film?!!!) Hope to see you there!

We should be back in Los Angeles by Midnight. (The eight hours start once we reach the casino.)

PAYPAL INSTRUCTIONS: (please follow carefully so we don't have to do refunds/resends; thanks):  For those paying by Paypal, Carol's paypal address is, "[masked]" - be sure to click "send money," then enter my email & the amount, then click the "personal" tab and choose "payment owed" so that no service charge is deducted. And be sure to add a note that it's for "MSK TRIP"; Also, if you are paying through an account/email address that is different than the name you are signed up under, please include info on how your RSVP/name appears on the RSVP list - thanks, Carol. For payments by check, please send to Kimberly Davis... 9025 Willis #134, Panorama City, CA  91402.

I had a great time! I look forward to Not Quite Vegas 3.

Congratulations to all the organizers on a job well done. Seemed like a more subdued group this year. I missed the bingo and could live without the comedy dvds.

It was my first year but someone I understand...the pics on the bus from last year look more interactive!

      February 24, 2013

    • Carol

I agree with you two that the trip wasn't as active/interactive as last year, and yes, bingo was a good way to create more interaction and entertainment - I'm sure we can bring it back next year! (Along with the dang plates & handwipes for the chicken, which inadvertently got left in my car). And perhaps organizing the food and drinks in the center of the bus from the start, to make easier access for everyone. It's such a huge event, and everyone scatters based on what they want to do, whether shopping, riding rides (I think I'll try that next year, losing money wasn't so fun), shopping, or whatever. Angelica (and all the newbies), I hope you'll join us soon for one of our smaller potluck, holiday, talk, or theater events, where the group is smaller and there's more time to chat and actually get to know each other.

Let's see, we had an 8:30 am Happy Hour with snacks, comedy club entertainment, lunch/dinner buffet, casino fun and an Oscar quality film. This was 5 events in 1 for all of $20 plus a parting gift and raffle. I won a griddle. How will they top it next time?

    3 · February 24, 2013

    • Dee M

I got 6 in 1. The sand storm was the thriller/adventure on the ride home. Whoa, I had to sit up while we rode thru that one. I had a ball at stateline. It's always a joy seeing so many of us all in the same place. I love the large events.

The first Not Quite Vegas trip was my first MSK event that made me know I found a place I could call home and a group of ladies that I am proud to call my sisters... My daughter, Kristi, joined me this year (she won the $50 cash raffle prize) and we both had a wonderful time!! She was amazed, as you said Michelle, that we got all that stuff for only $20. Thanks so much to Kim, Carol and Dee for another great event..

Wish I could have met and chatted with other ladies. I was hoping to meet others because it was my first meet up. Hopefully that will change in the near future! ;)

Thanks to the organizers, because I see they have a clear vision for this group! Angel

      February 22, 2013

Please call me [masked]) or Carol [masked]) asap if one of these occur. We will be in contact with the bus people that morning also; if you are departing from the LA address and are having problems finding the bus, please call me.

FYI - the bus is white and says "National Charter" on it.

Since this is not one of our smaller, more intimate, everyone-gets-personally-introduced events, we wanted to do a little pre-event introduction and make some suggestions for making everyone feel welcome. Welcome to first or second event newbies Dawne, LaToya, Roseanne, Angelica, Gigi, Helen, Nola, Christina Michelle. Please help us make sure they all get introduced around, and you newbies, please introduce yourselves to everyone as well. And to everyone who is bringing a guest, your guests are part of the MSK family too, and we hope to meet them and get to know them as well. We are bringing name tags, we’d like it if everyone would wear one with their first name on it (just on the bus trip, not in the casino of course ), so that as we’re talking, dancing, eating, and interacting with each other we can be reminded of names. Let’s get ready to eat, drink, and be merry! (And win those jackpots - or find some bargains at the outlet mall and have something to show for our money).

    1 · February 21, 2013

  • Carol

Wine Mimosas, Margaritas, chips, fried chicken, donuts, red vines, croissants, brownies - yes ladies, we have our own way of doing Happy Hour - we do it with our favorite junk food (with some healthy fried protein thrown in, lol), we do it on a bus, and we do it at 8:00 in the morning. Any arguments? I thought not! And you know what they say - "it's 5:00 SOMEwhere," so we'll toast those people getting off work somewhere.

    5 · February 20, 2013

    • Carol

Oh, BTW, we will have sodas and bottled water available, too, of course.

      2 · February 21, 2013

  • Carol

Kim, what is the final departure time from Burbank?

    February 19, 2013

    • Kimberly

As soon as the bus arrives and we board it. I'm thinking 8am, but if I were everyone I'd get there no later than 7:45. (How long is the ride from the first location to the second, about 35 minutes?)

      February 19, 2013

    • Carol

yes, about 35 min. sounds right
