A Tasty Journey through India ($65)

Calling all veggie and seafood lovers to join me in conjuring commingled flavors of North and South India. Learn a sinful Smoked Eggplant (Baingan Bharta) using acclaimed recipes direct from the kitchens of Punjab. Cook up a Savory Lentil dish with a variety of the freshest squash available from your local Indian grocery store. Complement these with my original super healthy Chickpea Spinach dish with a special guest vegetable still to be chosen. We end the culinary journey with a South Indian Shrimp curry seasoned with the spices of Kerala and paired with either Okra (if freshly available) or White Beans. As always, Mystic Kitchen provides instruction, recipes, and a complete Indian feast shared with other friendly foodies. You can pay by check or paypal. Checks should be made payable to "Pritha Mehra" and mailed to 6626 Midhill Place, Falls Church, VA 22043. Payment must be received to reserve your spot. Cost: $65

    Our tasty journey began with Indian “nachos” or Papri Chaat with layer upon layer of delicious goodness. Fully fortified the Spice Club tackled the night’s aggressive menu, beginning with Ann and Lien’s smoked eggplant “Baingan Bharta” - voted best dish of the night. Emily and Tracy discovered bottle gourd squash, drumsticks and tamarind all artfully stirred into a hearty Sambar Lentils. Jim’s bravely blended spices, spinach, mustard greens, chickpeas and potatoes adding a generous portion of fresh chopped ginger for his culinary creation. Pongsri conjured a magical Shrimp and Okra entrée. Kale Rice accompanied this delectable feast leading to a lively discussion on best veggie alternatives. Great to see Luctrician again and to meet her friend Bettye. Christine added party flare as always. Congrats to Emily and Stu, who celebrated their their 3rd year anniversary with us. Our chat on conservation and all things bipartisan reminded how good food and conviviality go hand in hand.
