Director Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine) will be in Washington, DC onThursday, March 7, for a special advance screening of Focus Features’ highly anticipated new drama, THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES, starring Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes at AMC Loews Georgetown.

The daring new movie from the director of Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines is a sweeping emotional drama powerfully exploring the unbreakable bond between fathers and sons.

Luke (Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling) is a high-wire motorcycle stunt performer who travels with the carnival from town to town. While passing through Schenectady in upstate New York, he tries to reconnect with a former lover, Romina (Eva Mendes), only to learn that she has given birth to their son Jason in his absence. Luke decides to give up life on the road to try and provide for his newfound family by taking a job as a car mechanic. Noticing Luke's ambition and talents, his employer Robin (Ben Mendelsohn) proposes to partner with Luke in a string of spectacular bank robberies – which will place Luke on the radar of ambitious rookie cop Avery Cross (Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper).

Avery, who has to navigate a local police department ruled by the menacing and corrupt detective Deluca (Ray Liotta), is also struggling to balance his professional life with his family life, which includes his wife Jennifer (Rose Byrne) and their infant son AJ. The consequences of Avery's confrontation with Luke will reverberate into the next generation. It is then that the two sons, Jason (Dane DeHaan) and AJ (Emory Cohen), must face their fateful, shared legacy.

The following are the conditions to RSVPing for a NAKID movie screening.

  1. NAKID Members Only. These screening passes are ONLY available to Winter 2013 or Spring 2013 members of NAKID Social Sports - that means that you've visited and registered for a team for our Winter 2013 or Spring 2013 season. Each person is permitted to bring one guest and that guest may be in NAKID or not (your choice).
  2. Answer the Questions. When RSVPing, you MUST answer the three (3) questions, asking for your first & last name, your email address, and what team you're on. If you're not seeing the three questions, please try RSVPing via a regular web browser - not a mobile web browser.
  3. Show Up For the Movie. If you RSVP yes, you must show up for the screening. Repeatedly RSVPing Yes for screenings and not showing up may result in you being completely removed from our Meetup group.

If you do not meet these conditions, your RSVP will be removed and you may be completely removed from our Meetup group. Please email [masked] if you have further questions/concerns.

Also, for some of our movie screenings, the promotional company or theater may not allow electronic devices (phones, cameras, video recorders) into the theater. If that happens, they'll have a ticket-based system for holding onto your phone and retrieving it after the movie.

As with all of our free movie screenings, entry is NOT guaranteed and they are often overbooked to ensure the theater fills to capacity, so please arrive early to the theater.

We will provide tickets at the screening. Arrive to the theater, hop in line and someone will point you in the right direction to see the movie.

These are the times we recommend you plan on, to help ensure entry into the movie.

  • 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM - We strongly recommend getting to the theater between these times. Other groups also get passes, so the earlier you get to the theater, the more likely it is you will get in to see the movie. Please remember that entry is not guaranteed!
  • 7:30 PM - Movie start time.

Entry isn't guaranteed at these screenings. We get enough comments about this that we mention it four times.

I got something about this being at Georgetown. Is that accurate? Will this be an auto +1 or is this a GoFoBo code?
